What You'll Learn

Donna Karan
Karan began her career as an assistant designer with Anne Klein in the late 1960s. In 1971, she was promoted to associate designer. After Klein's death in 1974, Karan became the head designer at Klein's fashion house, now owned by the Takihyo Corporation of Japan. In 1984, Karan left Anne Klein and, together with her then-husband, artist Stephan Weiss, and the Takihyo Corporation, started her own company. She showcase her first women's clothing collection in 1985, which included her popular ''Essentials' line.
In 1988, Karan extended her 'Donna Karan New York' line by creating a more affordable clothing line for younger women, called DKNY. This was followed by the launch of DKNY Jeans in 1990, a denim-inspired collection. In 1992, the DKNY brand expanded further with the introduction of the 'Signature' line for men and the subsequent release of DKNY for men a year later. In 1992, Karan also designed the iconic "cold shoulder" dress, featuring deep cutouts at the shoulders. While Karan stepped down from her CEO position in 1997, she continued as chairwoman and designer for the Donna Karan line.
Over time, Karan's involvement in design decreased, and in 2008, she relaunched her discontinued fragrance lines from the 1990s. In 2015, Donna Karan announced that she would be stepping away from her eponymous company to focus on her lifestyle brand, Urban Zen, which she established in 2007.

DKNY Pure alternative perfumes
Donna Karan, the creator of the DKNY brand, launched the Pure DKNY fragrance for women in 2010. The perfume was designed to connect people with nature, with Ugandan vanilla as its key ingredient. The vanilla is sourced in cooperation with CARE, which supports women in Uganda and helps them to work, educate themselves, and provide for their families.
Pure DKNY has been described as a clean, warm, and soothing fragrance with notes of balsamic, wood, and vanilla. It is an inoffensive scent that is suitable for the office and date nights. While it is not a strong perfume, it does bring compliments.
If you are looking for alternatives to Pure DKNY, you might want to try Tom Ford Soleil Neige. According to some users, it smells very similar to Pure DKNY, although it is pricier. Another similar fragrance is Calvin Klein Endless Euphoria, which has been recommended for its rosy scent.
For a cheaper alternative, you could try Calvin Klein's CK One. It is a unisex fragrance that is fresh and clean, with notes of bergamot, cardamom, and fresh green plants. It is a simple, inoffensive scent that is perfect for everyday wear.
Have you considered creating your own custom fragrance? Some companies allow you to blend your own unique perfume from a variety of scents. This could be a fun way to find your new signature fragrance, and you can often name your creation too!

DKNY Pure usage
Donna Karan, a fashion designer, is the founder of the DKNY brand. The company launched its PureDKNY fragrance in 2010. The perfume was designed to connect people with nature, with Ugandan vanilla as its key ingredient.
Pure DKNY is a floral fragrance with notes of jasmine, sandalwood, and white flowers. Some reviewers describe the scent as warm, rich, and feminine, with a hint of vanilla. The perfume has a moderate projection of about two feet, making it suitable for various occasions, including date nights, cuddle nights, and office wear.
The performance of the fragrance is said to be decent, lasting around 4-5 hours. Some users recommend applying four sprays to the shirt for a heavenly, green, and wet vanilla scent without being sugary, sour, or sharp. However, others find the scent too cloying and headache-inducing in the first ten minutes.
Regarding the usage of the 7ml DKNY perfume bottle, some users have noted that it does not have a button or a spray nozzle. To use the perfume, one might need to remove the metal lid and apply it by hand.
Unfortunately, it appears that Pure DKNY has been discontinued, and many loyal users are seeking replacements. Some similar fragrances suggested include Tom Ford Soleil Neige and Gap Close.
