The company claims that it supplied a pair of scented leather gloves to King George III in the same year. Creed has since created fragrances for celebrities and well-known political figures.

Creed's history, prior to 1970, comes from the company itself. There is no historical evidence of the company’s existence before this time. The earliest evidence of Creed's existence is from the late 1960s or early 1970s.

In the mid-19th century, Creed became famous under Henry Creed, who created garments for fashionable figures such as Count d'Orsay, Queen Victoria, and Empress Eugénie. In 1860, it was noted that Henry Creed of Creed and Cumberland was awarded an appointment to Queen Victoria and the Principal Courts in Europe. In 1885, Henry was granted a Royal Warrant by the Mistress of the Robes, Annie Roxburgh.

In the 20th century, Creed continued to gain recognition. In 1902, Henry Creed had addresses in Paris and Nice, France, with the latter being close to Grasse, the centre of France's fragrance industry at the time.
