I recently rekindled my romance with CL and purchased what I thought was the same juice. However, I noticed that the bottle clearly stated 'Lagerfeld Cologne'. I don't remember the word cologne from my original experiences. Is classic (vintage) the same stuff or am I losing my memory??

I have a small bottle of the newer formulation. It is 70s time-warp material in my opinion. It should come with a big faux-gold medallion and chain. It goes on strong but fades quicker than expected. A powdery amber with some odd animalic element more obvious in the dry down. It's quite good but not great IMO. Perhaps an acquired taste.

I was lucky to acquire a bottle of the original after I figured out the difference in the packaging (Classic uses a basic font on the front of the bottles whereas the original one is very fancy). I found it to be confused at first, drying down to something weak, uneven, and uninteresting. Then I came across a bottle selling inexpensively on eBay and read the BN reviews again. I looked at the notes and thought that it should be something I'd like, but I also read about the lousy reformulation. Then I figured out which bottles to seek out, and eventually acquired one at a reasonable price.
