They then went on to the USS Yorktown, where sailors welcomed Ann-Margret by standing in formation, spelling out "Hi Annie".
In 1968, Ann-Margret returned to Vietnam to perform in Bob Hope's USO Christmas show. She performed for tens of thousands of troops, more than 20,000 in Saigon alone. Ann-Margret has described her experiences in Vietnam as "one of the most important things in my life and always will be". She still receives mail from troops who served in Vietnam, and has said: "It just makes me feel good that I could do something while they were out there risking everything."
