Louis Vuitton's first fragrance
Louis Vuitton Malletier is a luxurious French fashion company, best known for its leather bags, suitcases and monogram. The company was founded by Louis Vuitton in 1854 on Rue Neuve des Capucines in Paris.
In 1920, Louis Vuitton began producing luxurious toiletries products such as crystal perfume bottles called "Editions d'Art". The first known fragrance of the house is Heures d'Absence, launched in 1927. It was followed by Je Tu Il in 1928, and then Réminiscences and Eau de Voyage in 1946. Eau de Voyage was re-introduced in the 1980s.
In September 2016, Louis Vuitton embarked on a new chapter in its history of perfumes. The creation process took over four years, including establishing the creative atelier Les Fontaines Parfumées in Grasse with Jacques Cavallier Belletrud as the in-house perfumer.
Today, Louis Vuitton has 46 perfumes in its fragrance base. The earliest edition was created in 1927 and the newest is from 2024. Louis Vuitton fragrances are made in collaboration with perfumers Jacques Cavallier Belletrud and Camille Cavallier.
